Linear Mixers

This is a great budget option to get into the Pioneer DJ eco system and ensure you will feel at home on most Pioneer mixers if playing out anywhere.

Also great with Serato, solid effects system. I’m not a fan of the filters but if you are gentle they are usable. Phono pre-amps are acceptable for most and on the whole it sounds pretty good.

Not much more to say really, other than I would probably opt for the Allen & Heath PX5 over this one in this price range.

Most Pioneer mixers have stood the test of time and have steadily increased in quality, features and of course cost over the years.

This is their ultimate club flagship mixer and is an absolute beast in every sense. It is the heaviest mixer I have had the pleasure of installing for starters. In terms of features this really is an incredible piece of kit with comprehensive routing effects and I/Os.

The sound is solid as you would imagine with high specs. The reason I moved this mixer on however was because to me it felt a bit sterile and I didn’t really feel at home on it. I must stress though that these are my opinions and this is the ultimate mixer. I’m quite interested to take the A9 for a soin at some point.

Baby brother and two channel version of the 750. This is a great little mixer particularly for the battle DJs or those who are limited on space or simply do not need more than two channels.

Great mixer, great price, end of story.

An old little mixer with no bells and whistles but this opened my eyes to a very important point!

I had my favourite session of mixing using this mixer. A good friend was over for an impromptu b2b mix and it was great fun, played loads of dope house music for a few hours bringing memories flooding back. This proves it’s not about the kit you use and you don’t always need bells and whistles a plenty. Sometimes restriction breeds creativity.

Good tunes and good company.

The classic go to for scratch and battle djs. A really capable mixer that has stood the test of time and heavily used by some of the very best turntablists in the world.

I only had this for a short term loan but was really tempted to buy and I’m not even a scratch DJ.

I bloody loved this mixer. Like an S9 on steroids, awesome hardware and software machine. Truly the king in every way for turntablists, scratch DJs, 45 exponents and the like. I opted for the limited edition because it looked dope and had a nod to the design stylings of the old 909.

This is No1 in it’s lane!

The mothership of Allen & Heath’s current lineup. I had very high hopes for this mixer having been a long term Xone 92 fan. Now the orignal 92 had it’s issues and I was sincerely hoping they would have solved the main one on this iteration namely the volume ramp towards the top of the fader curve which I’ve always struggled with.

Now I’ve complained about this for years and told by most people that I was wrong. I have since been vindicated however as this issue has been solved on the mk2 92 and documented. Glad I wasn’t going mad and I accept all the apologies lol.

However the 96 has this issue even with three separate settings for the curve. I’ve actually bought and sold this mixer three times swearing each to myself I’d be able to make it work as I love the mixer apart from that. It is a solid mixer however and takes the 92 a small step forward.

Has truly stood the test of time, an incredible mixer with a few minor gripes all of which have been rectified in the mk2 iteration of this masterpiece.

One of my favourite mixers of all time and used by some of the best underground djs I have admired for years. Many don’t like the loose feeling faders but cannot deny this is a true classic.

I love this mixer so much, the sound is incredible. What an amazing piece of kit and the small improvements made from the original were informed and thoughtful. This mixer design (I believe from Andy Rigby Jones) is close to perfection and has truly stood the test of time.

The improvements include a mini Innofader, no more pops when engaging the filters but for me the very best improvement was that they have achieved a linear volume curve on the up faders! I want to take this opportunity to thank the person responsible!

Also this is supreme value for money! Many videos to follow as this is my go to mixer now!

What a mixer.

Ladies and Gentleman, allow me to present the almost perfect DJ mixer! I have owned five of these in total. Why five I hear you ask. Well I buy it use it, feel the need for change, then sell it and regret it. Then rinse and repeat.

Back to the mixer and why it is so good. Sounds great, although the phono pre amps aren’t as good as the 92 but better IMO than the Pioneer mixers best offering. Four +one channel, the legendary filter (although some complain there is only one), superb layout, send and return and studio grade internal effects and you can combine int and ext effects (very cool).

Lots more features I haven’t mentioned but all in all an outstanding mixer. Also a side note is that the mixer is actually analog if not using the effects, very clever!

The price on this is crazy good also!

I only owned this for one day so I may be a little harsh here when I say that this is the worst mixer I’ve used! Sounds lifeless, faders are awful, eq wasn’t full kill, looked cheap. But as I say I probably didn’t give it a fair crack.

I have no interest in using this one again, but some people like it.

This was a good little mixer. Really unusual shape which I liked. Just a simple little thing, super cheap, didn’t sound bad and the C version was DVS compatible if memory serves. I also had a base one of these used for a rotary conversion which was fun. The new versions look superb, I might grab one at some point.

Can’t go wrong for a compact home setup.

This is/was an incredible mixer and I only used as a hardware mixer so only scratched (pardon the pun) the surface. But faders great superb ultimate battle mixer but still really nice to mix house on. The paddles for effect deployment are a superb addition.

Only got rid to get the S11 from Pioneer DJ.

Didn’t have this for long but a great little mixer. Took me a while to get my head around the effects and how they are used but loved it. Sounded lovely too with solid pre-amps.

Loved it but upgraded to the 72.

This is a delicious unit. What a massive sound and such a joy to play on. A funny company this one, a bit behind the curve with marketing and I’ll be honest I’ve had one or two technical issues with their mixers (I’ve had two) which required fixing.

If I had more faith in the quality control I’d use their mixers all the time.

Well this one is a bit special. How they made this for the money is completely beyond me. This has to be the most underrated mixer of all time. As a standalone mixer with two turntables it is incredible with three min innofaders as standard decent eq, with very acceptable phono pre-amps it punches well above it’s weight.

But this mixer was actually designed to integrate with Traktor and oh my does it shine! For DVS it is quite superb. Also there is a tricke where you can use it in thru mode and with a little midi mapping you can utilise Traktor effects when DJing with regular vinyl.

I have always had one of these in my possession and dive back into it from time to time. If you are lucky enough to find one second hand it will be around the £250 mark then grab it with both hands! In fact you’ll have to use two hands, it’s a bit of a tank.
