Incognito – Tomorrow’s New Dream
I must confess I haven’t listened to Incognito since the Always There days. They have been consistently dropping albums since those times. In fact they have been super consistent with releases in 1993/ 1995/ 1996/ 1997/ 1999/ 2000/ 2001/ 2002/ 2003/ 2004/ 2005/ 2006/ 2008/ 2010/ 2012/ 2014/ 2015/ 2016 and their latest release today in 2019. I’ve always defined Incognito as nice. Tomorrow’s New Dream is no different. A lovely warm and mellow live sound with velvet vocals throughout from the likes of Joy Rose, Roberta Gentile, James Berkeley and more.
Post hijack alert!!!
I had to bring this mix to your attention to the lovely tune Wake Me remixed by Louie Vega & Joe Claussell. Sublime beautifulness. That 90s vibe with warm production and dreamy vocals. WAXWRX tip: listen all the way through as at around 7:20 it goes nicely tribal, could be a track in its own right!
This release leans more towards commercial nu-soul rather than the more edgy hip hop vibe of the likes of D’Angelo and Jill Scott for example. Omar would have slotted nicely into this fold.
In summary, the sort of album you can tap your feet to and float away to your feel-good place.
