Cuillin Ridge, Skye, from Sligachan EA_2015_28-a Piero di Cosimo painted manyProbably the painting entitled The Burn, November the Cucullen Hills, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1856. The view is taken from Sligachan, looking southwards over the Sligachan Burn towards the Cuillin Hills. It was painted in true Pre Raphaelite manner, on a visit to Skye in the autumn of 1855. Ruskin praised the 'exquisite painting of withered heather and rock' and commissioned four drawings from the artist.
