Ursulaea tuitensis vipp 12-4 is a cultivar of TillandsiaTruly an oddity. This plant, once known as an Aechmea, really appears to be more closely related to Billbergia. The leaves are very succulent, blushing red and the 'tank' holds little or no water. It grows on moss covered rocks in nature, in oak and pine forests of Jalisco, Mexico. The erect inflorescence is tomentose, covered with white scurf and has showy pink bracts. The ovaries are large and swollen and the petals deep purple and helicoid
