Records on my radar – episode 02
Welcome to episode 02
My regular roundup of records I’ve purchased, acquired or need in my collection continues this week with episode 2. Working away so a little thin on the ground but a couple of gems none the less.
Just three 7″ 45s for you this week. What have you been buying? Let me know in the comments.
Have a read, have a listen and don’t forget to have a comment afterwards!
Ice T – New Jack Hustler 7″
Really pleased to land this little piece of nostalgia! It wasn’t without a fight but I managed to outbid the competition. Was it you??? If so say hi in the comments.
Taken from the film New Jack City which was one of my favourites from that time growing up as an impressionable teen! A quality film you must watch starring Ice T himself and Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown of course, am I my brothers keeper and all that jazz!
The track in question dubbed as ‘Nino’s theme’ is an energetic hip hop track which would be suited to a car chase. I was never a huge fan of Ice T but this and Original Gangster were both pretty dope.
De La Soul – Baby Got Work (DJ Jazzy Jeff & Kaidi Tatham Remix)
I can’t profess to know much about this joint but when Jazzy Jeff and any part of De La get together it’s gotta find it’s way into the collection. A nice smooth unassuming biscuit that will grace any summer’s day.
Dropped in 2021 the song delivers a message of change for us all to take on board. A nice solid cut and on 7″ is always useful.
Wreckx N Effects – Rump Shaker 7″
When guilty pleasures meet dope beats. Check baby check baby one two three four…. Just a fun dope track that will sit very nicely in a fun hip hop 7″ mix coming to a Twitch stream near you very soon.
Happy to have landed this little fella. What do you think of this slightly commercial classic, let me know in the comments.
